The weekend can sometimes feel like a chore when you have two kids.
It’s not that I don’t want to spend time with them—in fact, that’s all I want—but finding a good place for them to explore and have fun can be challenging.
We had other plans at first, but they didn’t work out, thanks to the sheer density of the Korean population. As soon as there’s an event in your city, forget about going: no parking, long lines, and overcrowding.
The moment we saw the lines of cars and police officers directing traffic, we knew we had to find somewhere else. So off to the Whale Museum we went.
Even though we’ve been there a couple of times, they’ve done some renovations, and it felt like the right time for another visit. We stumbled upon this place by accident once, and it was pure bliss.

You walk in through some curtains that pretty much steals the light from everything. We were greeted by this awesome circle screen displaying cool designs.

The next room was awesome, as there were projections on the floor as well as the walls. Perfect for kids, I told them to be just like Danny Go (famous youtuber who makes shows for kids, avoid the lava!) Then we jumped the stones and moved to the next room. The best room of them all.
We were greeted with a magical room that had an amazing view of our city, Ulsan. They showed us all the best spots to visit while a whale swam through all of it. It was amazing, especially since everything was 3D graphics and not shot from a drone and then edited. Whoever worked on this did an amazing job! It was a 180 degree projection of amazing quality and sound to match. It was only 8 minutes long, but what a great 8 minutes. I loved it, the kids loved it, the wife loved it... The family loved it. So relaxing.

In the end there was an interactive screen where the kids could have some fun, not that accurate though, but they liked it.

I tried to make a gif of a video, and even though it is small, you should get the idea of how awesome this was.
As I see all of these amazing places that I have visited around my city, I feel nostalgic. Things don't lose their beauty because we have seen it already; instead, it gains beauty as you remember who you were with and how that day was when you saw it for the first time. I have experienced a lot of my city, but my kids have not. I am forever on a mission to give them a fun and memorable experience, even though they are young. Today I blog to remember.
Thank you for sharing these amazing whale pictures and animations of the "Whales Fantasium", @scrooger!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. =)
Fascinating photos! I knew that you liked whales already eight years ago. 😉 You even tried to build one yourself! 🤣
Hahaha, good one! Wow, how time flies!
🎉🎉🥳 Congratulations 🥳🎊🎊
