Afternoon everyone ….
Ok, I’m kinda stumped on this one. I received this email from SD Bullion of a newly released Johnson Matthey round. I’ve been a fairly long term stacker, meaning I’ve have been collecting/stacking for over a five decade span now.
And this totally STUMPS me…..
See Johnson Matthey stopped refining gold and silver in 2014 after over 160 years in business. In 2015 they sold all of their facilities and machines to Asahi Holdings in 2015. In that sale there was verbiage that stated they were not allowed to use the Johnson Matthey name, brand or logo on any of their products.
I did a bunch of digging and research and can’t come up with anything on this. Johnson Matthey has not gotten back into refining or producing any precious metals per everything I’ve read. Yet I’m about to share with you a newly released Johnson Matthey round.
The only thing that I can come up with logically is that there was a ten year period on the name and branding which obviously has expired.
So without further ado….
I give you a new release from Johnson Matthey exclusively released by SD Bullion.
Here is a blurb directly from their website:

Yeahhhhhh i ordered the pre sale with the seller!!! Who would skip that 😆😆😆 i still try to get their vintage bars when they have a nice price! Do you know who is minting that? Asahi?
By the way did you check the engelhard silver bar minted by pamp?
I like it. I think JM is still around, but not in metals.
It's a nice round, classy. The agreement must have had a time statue in the contract, and is must have expired. I bet they'll sell well with Johnson Matthey on there!
That's a very simple design really..
Did you ever think that maybe the JM on JM Bullion stands for Johnson Matthey?
It is. But that was totally how Johnson Matthey was.
It’s not JM Bullion, it’s exclusively sold by SD Bullion. The JM is their signature on every bar look at all their old bars.
