Investing in Learning, Investing in Us

in #workyesterday

In a few weeks, my company is sending me to a training school to take courses that line up with my current project. I’m genuinely grateful for this, because it’s the kind of upskilling that helps me sharpen my tools and do my job better. Progress doesn’t happen by accident, it’s built, class after class, lesson after lesson.

I honestly think every company should empower their people to keep learning. Careers thrive when we evolve, not when we repeat the same routine for years. New ideas, better practices, and fresh perspectives are what move teams forward. That’s why I always encourage my teammates to put their hands up for courses and certifications. The confidence you gain after learning something new often turns into better decisions, cleaner execution, and stronger results.

Sometimes there are conditions, like service bonds or minimum terms, attached to sponsored learning. For me, that’s a fair trade. The knowledge stays with us long after the paperwork expires. In the long run, the biggest winners are the people who dared to grow.

So I’m going into this training with an open mind and a student’s heart. I’ll take notes, ask questions, and bring back what’s useful for the team. If even one lesson helps us deliver faster, collaborate better, or improve quality, then it’s worth it.

“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” — Alvin Toffler

Here’s to learning that lifts everyone, not just our resumes, but our daily work, our culture, and the way we show up for each other. Growth starts with the willingness to be taught, and I’m all in.
