Starting Fresh with an Open Mind and a Willing Heart

in #work21 days ago

I’ve been mentally preparing for my job tomorrow, and this is something I often do whenever I join a new company or start a new role. Normally, I would be relaxed on a Sunday, but not today, because I still don’t know what to expect in my new job. Although my new company and role are within the same industry, I believe I should treat it as if it’s my first time. This is the only way I can stay open-minded about change and learn more quickly.

Adapting to a new work environment is something I struggled with when I was younger. I used to find it difficult to fit in right away because I felt like I had to prove that the practices and standards from my previous job were better than those in the new company. I now realize that this is not a healthy mindset, especially when others disagree. It becomes even more challenging when you’re unable to get people to work with you.

I’m still learning how to balance adapting to the status quo while introducing meaningful improvements. It’s not easy to get people to collaborate with you if you keep insisting on your own ideas. I believe that gathering insights and new ideas from others is a better way to ensure people work with you, rather than against you.

At the end of the day, starting fresh is always an opportunity to grow, not just professionally but also personally. I’m learning that being open to new perspectives can lead to better collaboration and stronger relationships at work. While change can feel uncomfortable at first, it often brings out the best in us when we embrace it with the right mindset. I’m looking forward to what this new journey will teach me.
