Definitely a classic. I have the original Japanese version of this game on cassette for the Game Boy. I played it on an emulator much later, and it's definitely a brutal saga. It's incredible how Nintendo managed to make such an entertaining game with such simple and seemingly monotonous mechanics. They've achieved something incredible.
