Good morning, friends.
Wake up, grab some coffee, and look at yourself in the mirror. Cool, thanks. Just wanted you to see what success looks like. You're going to make today your bitch. My mom always used to tell me that when I was having a not so great day. She even got me a keychain that says "make today your bitch" a few years ago and I still love it to this day. Thanks Mom, I love you. Anyway, I've got my coffee and weed ready so it's time to share my next DeFi/Gaming experiment - dCity.
dCity
So after seeing a few posts here and there about dCity, I finally decided it was time to play with it. @forexbrokr did a post yesterday talking about investing in dCity NFTs vs. in dCity SIM here so go check that out and show him some love. After a quick skim of the Info tab on dCity, I jumped straight in. After all, who reads directions? Not this guy. I go full ape and figure things the fuck out like humans are supposed to. You know, Improvise, Adapt, Overcome. Or whatever that fucking saying is.
So I had around 20 SWAP.HIVE sitting on Hive Engine and figured I would just play with those funds first. Based off @forexbroker advice, I used the in game Swap tab to swap my SWAP.HIVE over to SIM so get cards at a discount. This is because the SIM price is dipping right now so it's cheaper to Mint cards with 800 SIM than it is with 4 Hive. At the time of writing, 800 SIM is about 0.85 HIVE which is insanely cheap! So off I went to Buy some in game NFTs because why not?
At this point, I just went for it. I minted 13 cards right off the bat. I figured that's a good place to start. I had no idea what any of the cards did or how the game actually worked until I started playing with it. Balancing out your city gets kind of addictive. I noticed that some of my cards were inactive, so I sold a couple. Not knowing how it worked, I realize now I could have just increased my population in order to have enough workers for the cards to be active. Whatever, it was a good opportunity to explore the market and understand how it works. Very similar to Hive Engine or any other DEX. You can do market or limit orders based on prices.
As I kept playing with it and trying to balance my city out I started to focus more on Income. I want those sweet, sweet SIM payouts. I realize that just holding SIM will get you payouts every day, probably more quickly than building a city. But what fun is that? I want to learn the mechanics more than I want to earn a couple dollars quick.
My attempt at balancing. To be fair, I was also a little drunk and VERY high when I was doing all this. Maybe someone that plays and has a better understanding of the game can take a look at my city and give me some pointers. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or tips! I get sucked into things and obsess over the details so I wanna figure this thing out!
Am I doing anything right?
If you play lemme know what you think please. If you don't and want something new to experiment with, check it out. With SIM prices low it's cheap to get started.
Thanks for reading.
Peace.

The game has evolved a lot since I started playing it. To be honest a game that I use to understand and could make some sense of I legit can't make any sense of it anymore in terms of trying to balance out the city for income. This also changes with each new president as they might enact new taxes and so forth. What I do know is getting your tech cards helps greatly.
The rewards pools have also changed and I can't even make sense of that anymore lol. To be honest the games become a bit too complicated for me.
What I can say however is that my investment of 9 months or so back when I heavily bought into the game is paying off nicely now even with the huge gap between SIM and Hive buy prices.
I kinda picked up on the: it's way too complicated. Lol, it's still fun to play with but I do really want to understand it more.
Agreed it's still totally fun to play in fact I'm in mine right now snooping around and trying to figure out some things
Feel free to hook me up with any tricks you discover!

Wise words. I've been living them since 1986.
It's OK and even expected to study something well enough to do it properly the first time (most especially when life and death are involved). Still, we learn far more from the mistakes we make, and the best place to make mistakes is in a game. If we have fun along the way, that's just bonus.
I hope things are going well with your dCity gaming experiences. Just be sure not to build a nuclear plant over a native burial ground. Nothing good ever comes out of that when that happens.
It's too late for me to upvote this post, so please accept this slice of !PIZZA instead.

Very true. Thanks for the tips! dCity has been interesting.
Well like someone else has said, there are multiple ways to go around things and I don't know if getting buildings and employees is the best way. I am personally going for the recruiting of immigrants and training of them for an income as well. I tried spreading out a bit to include art and tech but I don't recall ever mining one.

How do you train immigrants?
Well its using the Job Center card but I haven't really gotten any immigrants or homeless lately.

Are they completely random?
Random but more popularity means you get a higher chance of getting cards. Then again I haven't logged into DCity lately so maybe I need to just open up the window and see if my luck changes.

Happy to see I inspired you to give it a go.
dCity is cool in that you don't have to actively play each day to make money, like you do in say Splinterlands.
As for your city, it looks like you're on the right track :)
Try to keep your unemployed as close to zero as you can, thus keeping all your cards active and at full employment.
I see in that screenshot you have 19 unemployed, so to get that closer to 0, maybe consider selling some population cards off, or buying some income generating cards from the market.
High in-game taxes make building a SIM income from a small city like this a slow burn, but you'll start to see the scaling potential as you go.
Enjoy :)

Thanks a lot for the tips! I'm enjoying it.
I know more about dCity now from this post and its comments than I picked up over the last few months.
(Emphasis in original)
This would be a perfect game for me to play: go through enough to set up the basics of the city, enhance it as needed, let it do its thing. I'm not sure if I'll take the plunge and play, but I will invest a bit in dCity and other promising games needing some love.

Dcity makes my head spin, no offence, I’ve never understood SIMs type of games I honestly don’t know why. Every time I open dcity, I close the tab faster than anything

Lol it's pretty complicated. I like tinkering with shit like this though.
Many games are like that. Some are rather simple and those will do well. The others that are highly complex tend to have a dedicated following but have issues expanding.

Very true. I don't know if you ever played Prospectors on EOS but it was just too complicated for the average user in my opinion.
dCity has developed some really fascinating economic systems. Frankly, I never was fascinated playing it much. I just hold a decently large city and let it do its thing.

I guess that's what I'm looking to do. Get my city set up and let it ride.
You have about 19 workers lying that are unemploymeed so you are paying about 6 Sim to them in social security, I don't know wether that involve the tax or not.
Solution would be to buy some cards from the market so that requires enough worker you can pre-check that in the simulation to ensure all cards stay active and no unemploymeed people roaming in city.
If you don't have that much sim to get everyone employed a quick fix would be to transfer cards that carry population only to your secondary account in if you have or to someone who you trust.
Sometimes not having cards can actually increase your profit so as might consider selling.
Wow. Thanks! I just started playing with the simulator and it's incredibly useful.
Consider buying a law firm of you can afford that will reduce your taxes so an assured daily income even if taxes are over 100%
Next on my list. Thanks.
Won't the game sink in my coin
