I love my vehicles, I'm somewhat of a car guy (truck guy) and I think I'd miss having a car. I'm in the wilderness (outback) shooting all the time and there's no trains out there...well, the Ghan and Indian Pacific I guess, but I think they'd not like to see me and my rifles on there.

Yeah, that's fair... I used to be on a little farm with sheep and had a Honda Ridgeline which was good for hay bales but less good in the snow than our previous Suburu Foresters (which were honestly unbelievably good in snow and ice - much better than the big Ford F-150s we'd see skidding around)... but like you, the farm had nothing walkable so I'm enjoying this change of pace for now.
If I lived in a big city it's unlikely I'd have a car, but considering my lifestyle, my need to get outback, tow and generally be a truck guy it's not possible.
As for dem Subaru's...yeah man, they're pretty capable in slippery conditions, just don't have the towing capacity and high clearance or a dual range transfer case I need in a 4x4. I'd own one though, good all-rounders.
