Welcome to Qurator's Mischievous Mondays!

This will be a weekly competition that we will be hosting every Monday. We want to see a little more engagement and fun when it comes to some of our competitions so this will be a simpler and shorter competition. Easy to enter, but maybe not so easy to win. ;) This competition will be similar to the Monday Missions we had a long time ago, but instead of writing posts to enter we will now consider only the comments and answers on this blog as your entry to win.

Why Mischievous?

We all could use a little fun in our lives. We would even say that we deserve it, let loose a little and have a go at making everyone laugh or think a little, even if it is a little over the top or pure silliness. Go all out and let your creative juices flow.

What happens to the world?

Nice monday

The day sleep stopped working at my current hectic work life, it will start working on my next available moment. Initially I wanted to make this entry a funny one, but the more I thought about why I couldn't sleep, the more I realized it was due to my work pressure and busy schedule. It's either:

  1. I work until too damn late. By the time I'm ready to bed, my mind is still so active as if I can see the led screen blinking Infront of my eyes (with my eyes shut).
  2. Thinking about how to answer tomorrow sales meeting.
  3. Listening to home minister's sleep talking whilst I'm wondering what I did in her dream, was it the pail of mob floor detergent? Was it the laundry basket not in place? Is she complaining I'm sitting Infront of the computer for long hours?

I genuinely have no idea what will happen if it "stay" stopped working. For now, I will continue to let my thoughts continue to dig through all the problems that is affecting my sleep, until I'm too darn busy, knocked out, woke up with a bad dream, be a zombie for the day, usually the next day I'll be too tired to even "think" of how to make sleep work again and it work.

The Day Sleep Stopped Working

If the day sleep suddenly stopped working it would change the world a lot. I am thinking of different serious effects of it such as

  • People might die, as sleep is very essential in life to recharge the body
  • Children would not be able to grow well as day sleep is part of their growing needs.
  • The elderly might get sick as they need some day sleep because of their age
  • Tired people would not have the chance to regain some energy for the rest of the day

People rise, squeezed by reality, eyes wide open but without that heavy weight of fatigue that reminds us we need to sleep. But something is wrong: the body complains, the mind screams, and the world slowly begins to change.

At first, there’s an almost collective euphoria. More hours to create, to work, to love, to explore. The streets are more alive than ever, cafés buzzing with people trying to make the most of every waking second. Artists produce works with almost supernatural breath; scientists break barriers of study; musicians play endlessly, inventing sounds no one had ever imagined. It feels like a paradise of productivity.

But the euphoria doesn’t last. The human body is made for sleep, and without it, the world begins to show invisible cracks. Brain and heart fall out of sync; memories start to blur; dreams that never came now turn into unnoticed nightmares. People begin talking to themselves, laughing and crying without reason. The silence of the night, which once embraced fatigue, has vanished - and with it, the natural order of life.

The economy, at first, flourishes with endless days, but soon wrong decisions multiply. Trains derail, political debates become insane, financial transactions blur together. And the world, which seemed to gain time, discovers that sleep is not merely rest: it is a restart, a filter for the mind, a repair for the body.

At the height of chaos, how can one sleep when sleep no longer exists? Without rest, there is no healthy tomorrow. Without dreams, there is no hope. And perhaps, in realizing that life is not just wakefulness, humanity understands that sleep is more than closing our eyes - it’s where the world quietly reorganizes itself, night after night.

It's just a small sample of what would happen in a certain place, if you stopped having a daytime break...

Restorative naps are being banned around the world, in companies, schools, universities, colleges, etc.

Companies consider it a waste of time and money to give their employees an hour's break during a nine-hour workday.

It is a live study, and the results will be seen as they are obtained. Most employees, although protesting, have no choice but to obey orders. At first, it seemed that things were working the same, but as the days went by, people became more difficult to deal with. Hostility could be felt with customers and even among themselves. All this accumulated energy was now present more frequently, and people exploded in the presence of the most demanding customers.

Patience and consideration no longer existed. There were more layoffs and resignations, and the losses were soon noticeable.

Those who supported the brilliant idea of taking away the break time for full-time staff were congratulated with immediate dismissal, without the right to reply.

All companies returned to giving their employees a break. The live study resulted in more losses for companies than before that decision. Again, over the months, things began to normalize little by little. The damage had been almost irreparable, but they were managing to channel it well.

The Day Sleep Stopped Working – The Walking... Awake
When sleep stopped working, we all became extras in The Walking Dead.
No apocalypse. No virus. Just pure exhaustion.
Offices turned into survival camps.
Bosses became the new zombie leaders.
And the bravest among us were those who dared to close their eyes... even for five minutes.😅
